USA TODAY Advertising Sales

Position: Advocacy & Issues Category AE/Team Leader

This Advertising Sales professional will focus on selling advertising space across all USA TODAY brands to professionally, effectively and accurately represent USA TODAY in the Advocacy marketplace, facilitating brand strength and credibility.

Essential responsibilities include: utilize comprehensive knowledge of the industry, the competition, and customers to develop and execute effective strategies and proposals that generate business and strengthen USA TODAY’s marketplace position around Philanthropy/Advocacy.  Takes a strategic view of the category and customers’ business model(s) and what the USA TODAY brand can offer, developing advertising opportunities and partnerships that bring mutual value. This includes but is not limited to developing key relationships with high level executives within important industries and associations, developing, planning and hosting special sales functions, and representing USA TODAY at industry functions. Leverages a wide network of contacts and draws upon professional experience to identify strategies, customers, market analysis, create proposals and deliver effective presentations that develop sales opportunities that meet an annual revenue goal of at least $5 million annually.

Requires a strong team player with solid decision-making skill sets, the ability to build strategic working relationships internally and externally, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and proactive self-starter mentality.  Sales experience and Industry experience (Philanthropy, Advocacy, Issues category) a must.
