Case Studies

First Degree's award winning programs include the 2004 Halo Award for Best Transactional Program - Every Child Deserves a Toy at Christmas.

With both Toys "R" Us and Toys for Tots in the business of delivering joy to children, First Degree felt the synergies between these two organizations would enable Toys "R" Us to create a national cause marketing program that helped children in need in the local communities in which they did business.

During the holiday season, customers can make $1, $5, or $10 donations to Toys for Tots at every Toys "R" Us and Babies "R" Us location nationwide and online at www.toysrus.com and www.babiesrus.com. During the kick-off weekend, Marines are present in most Toys "R" Us stores to collect toys and thank the public for their support. Numerous events are hosted by Toys “R” Us to benefit Toys for Tots, including a special holiday party for the children in the Gulf Coast who were impacted by hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

The strength of this program is witnessed at the local level. Each of the 520 Toys for Tots units are matched with the Toys "R" Us stores in their area to work together to generate awareness and community support for the program. Marines work with Toys "R" Us store managers to host special fundraising events, participate in media outreach and collect toys for distribution. All funds raised locally are used locally to purchase and distribute toys to children in need.
